BPL Joins PALsPlus
Library consortiums are an effective way of extending services to a library's community by banding together with other libraries and sharing resources, knowledge and collections. The Belleville Public Library and Information Center will be joining the PALsPlus Consortium on October 1st, 2021.
This will give our patrons access to the collections and services of the 22 other libraries in the consortium. Within the consortium, library patrons will enjoy a more seamless integration of services using their Belleville Public Library card in places like Clifton, Kearney, Fairfield, Passaic County Community College, Totowa, Cedar Grove, West Milford and more.
The catalog system will allow you to directly search these collections simultaneously for the books you want and have them set aside for pick up at their home library or delivered to any of the other libraries including Belleville. Basically we operate like one large library unified library system.
We will also gain access to some shared online resources provided by PALS Plus including Heritage Quest, Rosetta Stone and Novelist.
There will be some changes. As we move into a shared system we will be adopting the shared policies of the consortium. For more complete information you can download the PALS Plus brochure
If you would like to browse through what you are getting access you can search our unified catalog at catalog.palsplus.org
