Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling

Book Reviewer: Roshan Ardhasseril

Harry Potter is stuck once again at the Dursleys. Soon he will come of age and his mother's protection will leave him. It would have been his seventh year at Hogwarts – but he is not going. Harry and his friends must find and destroy the Horcruxes with only the hints that Dumbledore had provided – a task that seems hopelessly impossible. Meanwhile, with every attempt at Harry's life, Voldemort comes ever closer to accomplishing his goal: Harry's death. Then, as Voldemort becomes near invincible, and Harry loses more of those he loves, Harry discovers the true loyalties of those around him. After all this, Harry discovers a shocking truth – kept from him by Dumbledore – that could end his life. Will Harry survive? Find out in this amazing ending to J. K. Rowling's seven part Harry Potter series – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. This last book in the Harry Potter series was well worth waiting for - and is worth its weight in galleons! I loved reading this book and could not put it down! Through all the twists and turns J. K. Rowling managed to tie together all the lose ends from the previous book. Although there were many sad deaths, she managed to convey a necessity and a closure for every one. She came through, and the result was a wonderful, thrilling, and breathtaking book. In fact, you'll never put it down until you're done!

Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Book Reviewer: Roshan Ardhasseril

Eragon is a book that is sure to be loved by fans of books such as the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, the Harry Potter series, and other epic tales. A tale of an ordinary boy who's fate is nothing less than extraordinary, this book will enchant any reader, taking them to a world where immortal, all-powerful, and deranged kings reign and dragons are the hope of the land. Eragon is an orphan raised by his aunt and uncle. He is a farmer boy who is also an excellent hunter. He is unusual among the villagers because he dares to go into the Spine, a mountain range where entire armies have vanished. Despites this, he expects nothing more in life – until one day, when a blue stone appears. One night, the blue stone (really an egg) breaks open and reveals a baby dragon. Eragon is marked and they are linked forever. Eragon has become a living legend: a Dragonrider. Now riding on the wings of fate, Eragon, with the help of the village storyteller, journeys across Alagaesia to join the secret resistance against the deranged, powerful, and immortal king of Alagaesia – the fallen Dragonrider, Galbatorix. Embroiled in a fight that has spanned the lives of many men, Eragon must discover his hidden abilities and weaknesses as he grows everyday. His success will determine the fate of a desperate nation. Eragon is a book that is hard to put down. From start to finish - you cannot put down this wonderful book, filled with varied characters that grow on you, as well as a fast paced plot that is sure to thrill. Everyone should read this book – over and over again!

The Da Vinci Code   Dan Brown

      Reviewer Christianne Saveedra

This book is amazing! Read the book before seeing the movie because the book is so much better. I love Robert Langdon’s character. He’s modest, intelligent, and admirable. Robert is a very skilled cryptologist; he decodes messages effectively. He crosses paths with a young woman named Sophie, who helps Robert escape from the police. They are accused of murder that has its own purpose and explanation, but Robert and Sophie are constantly on the run. They attempt to decode every new clue they find before an albino monk gets them first. This book is suspenseful and you will not want to put it down, and it’s jaw dropping until the very last page is turned!

            Twilight Stephenie Meyer

Reviewer Laura Casale

Twilight is an amazing story, amazing enough that I’ve read it twice! It’s a vampire/love story directed mainly towards a teenage-female audience. If you have ever been the new girl in school, love fantasy stories, or if you have ever had that inevitable crush on the mysterious bad-boy in school, this will especially hit home. It’s a romantic suspense story that will keep you reading for hours. I would recommend this book for any teenage girl to read, I’ve already got my best friends reading it! (They love it too)

Movie Reviews

         Ever After

Reviewer Amanda Buckley

A fantasy movie with heartfelt characters, this is a Cinderella story with a spin on it. Drew Barrymore stars as Danielle, your not so typical Cinderella. She knows what she wants and is determined to get it. The prince is in love with Danielle, but staying together won’t be easy for them, especially with Danielle’s evil stepfamily finding their way into every part of her life and ruining it. You soon will witness the love, passion, and lies that will be told to keep their relationship strong. This movie will make you laugh, cry, and change your opinion on the “damsel in distress’ image of Cinderella into the heroine, Cinderella.

Rated on a scale of 1 to 5 stars: * * * * *
